Fair Trade Sale

We recently held our annual sale of fairly traded products  at Park End Church Hall (Rhydypenau Crossroads)

The products were supplied by Traidcraft, Shared Earth, Tearfund, Wonderworld etc. and included crafts, jewellery, food, beverages, Christmas cards & decorations, gift wrap and stationery .
Traidcraft tea and coffee was served throughout the day.

The idea behind “Fair Trade” is to support producers in third world countries through our buying products that guarantee them a living and stable wage even if this sometimes means paying more for those products.

For further details about this event or Fair Trade in general, contact
Elsa Cowie on  029 2075 2673

REMEMBER - This is an annual event - so if you couldn't get to this year's, look out for next year's. If you can't wait that long, why not visit Fair Do's, the Fair Trade shop in Llandaff Road, Canton, Cardiff.

Park End Church is proud to support the principles of Fair Trade. This is the policy we have adopted:

"We as a church in Park End have made a commitment to support fair trade through our various organisations by using fairly traded products and products sold by fair trade companies whenever possible."

The idea is to support producers in third world countries through our buying products that guarantee them a living and stable wage even if this sometimes means paying a bit more for those products.  Enabling people to support themselves through trade seems far more effective in the long run than emergency aid.

The range of products with the fair trade logo on them available in supermarkets is expanding and there is now a directory that lists supermarkets and other outlets that sell them and which products they stock.  A copy of this directory can now be found at the back of the church. An online edition should be available shortly.

Fair Trade goods are also now on sale in the large hall once a month after the family/parade service [generally on the third Sunday of the month].

Any comments or suggestions regarding the policy and its implementation will be gratefully received by Jan or Elsa.   (e-mail via info@parkendcardiff.org.uk )Please support it if you can.
